temple.Those who visit thirukadaiyur cannot miss
this temple.
Legend has it that chola king wanted to construct
the ABHIRAMI temple at thirukadaiyurand sent his
minister ILANGARA MUNIVAR TO start the work.the
minister not only constructed the temple at
thirukadaiyur also the temple at THILLAIYDI.The king
got angry when he came to know everything and ordered
the HANDS and LEGS OF ILANKARAMUNIVAR to be
severed.but LORD SHIVA AND PARVATHI BORE the injury on
their body.THE CHOLA KINGrealised his mistake and
sought the pardon. ilankara munivar wanted to see the
dance of NATARAJA AND TO FULFILL HIS DESIRE LORD
NATARAJA danced at THILLAI FORESTS which is called as
"thillaiyadi"

I belong to Thillaiyadi, born on 24th June 1937. My home was in North Madavilagam, my father G.Venkataraman was a Dist.Board school teacher, later went to Seigon with Yousuff Maraicar of Thirukkalacheri. I left home in 1944 and settled at Mayuram until 1948. On seeing Thillaiyadi temple I was enthused to write this.

The women who gave us food on that day was the wife of the local Karnam, who was also in North Madavalagam., his next house was that of a Headmaster. I am the nephew of one Markandan a school teacher. I will be happy if u send me a line in reply.

Markandan is my mother's cousin. My grand father was Venkatarama iyer and my maternal uncle V.Rajagopalan, who was in Arkonam. My house was sold to one Mr.Radhakrishnan (Calcutta). I know Karnam of our village and in whose house we stayed after visiting Ozhumangalam and Thiruvidaikazhi.
